BISD Child Development Center Earns Highest Designation

(Bastrop)—The Child Development Center at Cedar Creek Elementary has earned a 4-star designation by the Texas Rising Star program. The rating is the highest awarded by Texas Rising Star, which is a program of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The Cedar Creek facility joins the Child Development Center at Emile Elementary, which had previously earned its 4-star designation.

BMS Theater on a Global Stage

(Bastrop)--Bastrop Middle School theater students will make history when they perform We Will Rock You The Musical at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Performing Arts Center. This will mark the first time a middle school has performed the musical on any stage in the world since it typically is performed by high school students and young adults. A total of 75 students are involved in the historic production, which opens Friday.

State Releases Preliminary Ratings for Proposed A-F Grading System

(Bastrop)--The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will release January 6 preliminary A-F ratings for all districts and campuses. The proposed A-F school accountability system would replace the current system wherein districts and campuses receive the rating of Met Standard or Improvement Required. BISD Free and Reduced-Price Meal Policy

(Bastrop) – Bastrop ISD announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the current income eligibility guidelines. Each school/site or the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.

BISD Begins Winter Break December 19

Bastrop ISD will be closed for Winter Break beginning December 19, 2016. Students return to class on Wednesday January 4, 2017.
