(Bastrop) – Bastrop ISD announced Jennifer Edenfield as the new Director of Student Advancement. In her new role, Edenfield will supervise the district’s articulated student pathways, Gifted and Talented, Advanced Placement, dual credit, and Career and Technology Education (CTE) programming.
“Jennifer brings a unique blend of experiences to Bastrop ISD that will help us move to the next level in preparing our students to be successful no matter which path they choose after high school,” said Steve Murray, Superintendent of Schools. “From her years in the classroom to her most recent experience in CTE programming, her background and enthusiasm will be a great addition to our district.”
Edenfield launched her career in Galena Park ISD, where she taught ag science classes and coached Leadership and Judging teams. After six years in the classroom, she moved into the role of assistant principal with the same district, during which time she wrote and implemented multiple grants. In 2008, Edenfield worked in oil and gas in the Houston area with Enterprise Products and El Paso Exploration & Production.
Edenfield’s administrative career includes four years as ag science manager for Clear Creek ISD and two years as director of CTE for Brazosport ISD, where she coordinated master scheduling and implemented new CTE courses and certifications. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education from Texas Tech University and a dual Master’s degree in Administration and Curriculum & Instruction from Houston Baptist University.
“It’s an honor and a pleasure to come to Bastrop ISD, and I look forward to working with administrators and teachers throughout the district,” said Edenfield. “I am excited about the opportunities we will create for students. My goal is not only to make students college ready but also career ready.”
Bastrop ISD is located 30 miles southeast of Austin and serves approximately 10,600 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Paige and other rural areas of Bastrop County.
