Student Teaching & Observation

Bastrop ISD welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall and spring semesters. To request a placement for student teaching please contact Diana Greene (Human Resources) at 512-772-7137.

Student teacher requests will be handled through Human Resources. Students or representatives of the requesting programs should NOT contact teachers or principals directly.

All student teacher candidates must be entering the final semester of the teacher preparation program; and, upon successful completion of student teaching and any other program requirements, be eligible for a Texas Standard Teaching Certificate. Bastrop ISD does not place student teachers in paid internship assignments.

All student teachers will be invited to a District Orientation prior to the start of their student teaching.

Bastrop ISD Identification Badge

• Badges will be issued at the Student Teacher Orientation after placements have been confirmed.
• Badges must be worn at all times while on the assigned campus.

Prior to requesting a Student Observation placement all interested individuals should complete a Bastrop ISD Volunteer (VIPS) application. Upon completion of the application, the district will run a Criminal History background check.

You will need to provide proof of identification during each observation.  You may use a Current Driver's License, State/Government Issued ID Card, or a Military ID Card.
