Bastrop ISD named Penne’ Liefer as the new Chief Academic Officer for the district July 1, 2015. Liefer comes to Bastrop from Anderson-Shiro CISD, outside of College Station, where she was the Executive Director of Instruction and Accountability, overseeing and implementing K-12 instruction and curriculum.
A graduate of Texas State University and Sam Houston State University, Liefer has six years of experience in the classroom as a math teacher, and 12 years of experience as an administrator. She has served as director of learning and support, director of campus and departmental support – financial services, and was a middle and high school principal with Humble ISD.
“We welcome Penne’ Leifer to the Instructional Leadership Team as our new Chief Academic Officer. She comes our way with a wealth of knowledge about curriculum and instruction and performance,” Superintendent Steve Murray said. “We are excited that she has chosen to join Bastrop ISD leadership team in the service of BISD staff and students. The Bastrop ISD Curriculum and Instruction department is going through a transformation as the district seeks new and more innovative ways to help our students be as successful as possible.”
Liefer has managed and updated campus and district improvement plans, led district professional leadership committees and professional development, and overseen instructional programming and projects dealing with teacher effectiveness, assessment and accountability indicators.
Bastrop ISD is located 35 minutes southeast of Austin and serves nearly 10,000 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Paige and other rural areas of Bastrop County.
