Promoting Biliteracy, Bilingualism and Biculturalism

Multilingual Program

BISD currently implements two bilingual program models: Dual Language Immersion One Way and Early Exit Transitional at all 8 of the district elementaries.  The program model shift  from early exit to a DL immersion one way will take place over a span of 5 years beginning in grades Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade. Each subsequent year, beginning in 2024-2025, the district will add one grade level at a time to the dual language immersion one way program model with the ultimate goal of students in grades 2nd-5th receiving 50% of instruction in Spanish and English.
