Hello parents and families!
WELCOME to the 2018-19 school year!
I am thrilled to be teaching at Bluebonnet Elementary, and even more excited to be teaching third grade again because this is my favorite age group to teach. Third grade is a time that students gain quite a bit of independence, which they tend to enjoy. This is a great thing because being responsible and more independent learners prepares them so well for the transition to fourth grade.
I have high expectations for all my students but know that every child is an individual whose needs must be met in order to be successful. I will do my very best to teach your child in the way that they learn best. My goal is for every student to love school and to be successful! To be as successful as possible, it is important for parents and family members to partner with me and support their child in every way possible. This simply means make sure to check your child's planner (in their Take Home Binder) every night for homework and important notices and communication, help your child with nightly reading and math fact practice, and help with assignments as needed. Please sign your child's planner every night. Also be sure that your child eats well, comes to school well-rested, and arrives on time fully prepared for a new day of adventure and learning. Partnered as a team, we can make this third-grade adventure successful, exciting, and fun!
I teach English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and I team teach with Mr. Deragowski, who teaches Science and Math. I also integrate Social Studies into our lessons. Please see the Daily Schedule section for the times we are teaching your child.
A weekly newsletter will go home every Monday throughout the duration of the year. Please read this newsletter for current skills we are learning, as well as important updates and reminders. This newsletter is placed in the clear sleeve of your child's take-home binder.
Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis, covering Reading, Writing, and Math.
