Nicole Correa is native of San Antonio where she graduated as Valedictorian from John F. Kennedy High School in 2011. During her time at John F. Kennedy, she became a member of the Texas All-State Band in both her junior and senior years. As a high school student, she has appeared in The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio and The San Antonio Youth Wind Ensemble/Jazz Ensemble.
Ms. Correa received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. She studied trumpet under Ray Sasaki and Dr. John Carroll, principal trumpet of the San Antonio Symphony. In addition, she has appeared in the UT Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Hispanic Caribbean Ensemble, University Orchestra, and The Longhorn Band. During her time as a student she has performed with chamber ensembles such as Brass En Fuego Brass Quintet, The San Antonio Brass Quintet and Brass Band. Ms. Correa has also participated in the Interharmony International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Tuscany, Italy where she performed in chamber groups and played principal trumpet in the philharmonic.
Ms. Correa has served as the director of the 6th grade beginning band at Cedar Creek Intermediate and Symphonic Band (Non-Varsity) at Cedar Creek Middle School since 2015. Her band has made Cedar Creek Middle School history by being the first Non-Varsity band to achieve Sweepstakes at UIL competition, the highest honor a band can receive.
