Hi! My name is Claire Walker, and this is my second year getting to call myself a Bastrop Bear! I teach 7th grader English Language Arts.
I live in Bastrop with my husband, two huskies, and two snakes! We love it here, and am thrilled be teaching your kids! I am originally from Houston (go 'Stros!), but decided to go on an adventure to attend school out of state in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. While at Appalachian State University, I studied Middle Grades Education with concentrations in ELA and Social Studies. I graduated in 2014, and upon graduating, I ended up in South Carolina teaching 6th grade ELA for four years. Those years taught me a lot about myself and about my philosophy on teaching. I am grateful for the experience, people that mentored me, and the lessons I learned. This being said, I am SO happy to be back in the great state of Texas! There's nowhere quite like it, and people just don't understand our native Texan pride quite like we do! :)
I am super excited for this year and all of the amazing things we will do to expand our brains and create a love an appreciation for reading and writing!
If you ever have any questions about your child's grades or progress in my class, please contact me. The easiest way to get in contact with me would be through email. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
