Hello! My name is Jan-Michael Mercer and I am an Inclusion/Resource Language Arts Teacher. I have been in education for 13 years and love working with students and their families. I attended the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and have my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and my Master's degree in Educational Psychology.
My classroom teaching experience includes 5 years from kindergarten to fifth grade and currently in my third year as a special education teacher for Bastrop Intermediate School. My educational certifications include School Counselor EC-12, Educational Diagnostician EC-12, Special Education EC-12, Elementary Education PK-6 and Early Childhood Education PK-6. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. I have also worked for Elgin ISD as a school counselor at Elgin High School from and the district assessment specialist. My additional professional experience includes working for Austin Travis County Integral Care as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist doing assessments and evaluations for 0-3 years with disabilities. I am also a Qualified Mental Health Professional in the areas of adult/child/youth/family as case manager at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. I assisted with intakes for the YES Waiver program and worked extensively with clients in crisis.
I have a passion for working with all students and enjoy assisting them to achieve their goals.
