• I am so excited about this school year!!  "All day long Pete sings his song.  I'm singing in my school shoes, I'm painting in my school shoes, I'm adding in my school shoes, I'm writing in my school shoes." And I'm learning SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES in my school shoes too!!

The educational philosophy our classroom is built by is from one of my favorite philosophers, John Dewey.  Dewey's own children were found running around their neighborhood, often in no socks and shoes, just exploring.  How wonderful it is to think of a classroom with that kind of atmosphere, of course we will keep our shoes and socks on, but a classroom where the child is a willing participant in the exploration and imagination that can come through hands-on experiences.

President George W. Bush, at the Challenger Memorial, said, "This cause of exploration and discovery is not an option we choose; it is a desire written in the human heart." It is my goal as your scholar's teacher to awaken that desire within each of my students!!  We will explore and discover in our classroom this year!!!

I am excited to be teaching at Cedar Creek Intermediate School.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I have my EC-6th grade generalist license, 4th-8th grade Science, and I am ESL certified. I am originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, where I began my teaching career, but I have had the awesome opportunity to teach in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Palmer, Alaska.  We have just moved back from Alaska, and we are trying to get accustomed to the heat of Texas once again.

Saying I love science is an understatement.  I LOVE science and NASA!!  I was one of five teachers chosen to experience microgravity with the NASA Johnson Space Center.  I love bringing what I learned in zero gravity into my classroom each year!

I was also chosen as Gregory Portland Independent School District's Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year.
