Bastrop ISD Names Kristi Lee Lone Finalist for Superintendent

Dr. Kristi Lee

(Bastrop) – The Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Dr. Kristi Lee as Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools. She has served as Interim Superintendent since August 1, 2025.

Lee’s career in education spans more than 20 years, with almost 10 years in Bastrop ISD. Prior to her position as Deputy Superintendent, Lee served as Associate Superintendent and Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations. Lee also has experience as a school principal at both the elementary and secondary levels, as well as a classroom teacher.

“Dr. Lee has already shown she can lead Bastrop ISD with stability, confidence, and care. She is trusted, respected, and deeply knowledgeable about our district’s needs. Her leadership has kept BISD steady during a critical period, and she embodies the qualities our community requested in their next superintendent. She provides immediate readiness, zero delay in momentum, and a proven commitment to the students, staff, and families of Bastrop ISD. For these reasons, I believe she is the right choice to serve as our next superintendent,” said Chris Dillon, BISD Board Vice President.

Dr. Lee holds a master’s and doctorate in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University and a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has been actively involved in the community since 2016 through roles with the Bastrop Education Foundation, the YMCA Board of Managers, Visit Bastrop Board of Directors, and the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, where she currently serves as Chair of Governmental Affairs and liaison to the Executive Board.

“I am so grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me, and I sincerely appreciate the support of my colleagues, our teachers, and everyone in BISD. I am honored to serve the students and families in this community and to continue pushing us to new heights. By working together, the future is incredibly bright for Bastrop ISD!” said Lee.

By law, the district is required to observe a 21-day waiting period before the finalist can officially be hired. That vote is expected at the Board’s regular meeting on December 16.
