Jacqueline Dixon Named Principal of Camino Real Elementary

Jacqueline Dixon

Bastrop ISD has named Jacqueline Dixon as the principal of Camino Real Elementary (CRE), replacing Dr. Augustina Lozano, who is relocating with her family. Dixon will assume the position at the conclusion of the school year.

“I am truly excited and honored to serve as the new principal of Camino Real Elementary School,” Dixon said. “I cannot wait to be part of this incredible family. I believe strong relationships are at the heart of student success, and I look forward to partnering with our staff, students, and families to continue the positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.”

Dixon is very familiar with Bastrop ISD, having served as the assistant principal of Lost Pines Elementary since 2021. Before that, she taught first and fourth grades at Bluebonnet Elementary, where she earned Teacher of the Year in 2021. Prior to joining Bastrop ISD, she served as an ESL/bilingual coordinator for Cedars International Academy, where she also began her education career as a kindergarten teacher.

Dixon’s leadership strengths include visionary thinking, cultural competence, collaborative leadership, and relationship building.

“Jacqueline has demonstrated a commitment to building relationships with staff, students, and families. I am confident that she will continue to lead with excellence as she joins the Camino Real Elementary family,” said Dr. Kristi Lee, Superintendent of Schools for Bastrop ISD.

Dixon holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Kansas and a bachelor's degree in education from Texas State University.

Jacqueline and her husband, TJ, have one amazing 9-year-old son, Bradley, who will be joining her at CRE. As a family, they spend their weekends cheering Bradley on at the baseball fields, enjoying great food, and riding bikes together.
