David MacRoberts Tapped to Lead Bluebonnet Elementary School
July 1, 2019
(Bastrop) – David MacRoberts has been selected as the principal of Bluebonnet Elementary School, replacing Alison Hall who was promoted to the top spot at Cedar Creek Intermediate School last month. He is expected to take the helm immediately.
MacRoberts brings 15 years of campus leadership experience to his new post at Bluebonnet. He has served as principal of Veramendi Elementary--a school he opened in 2017--and Lamar Elementary in the New Braunfels ISD. Prior to that, he was assistant principal at both the elementary and secondary levels in the Alamo Heights and New Braunfels school districts. Before beginning a career in school administration, he taught intermediate school math, science, and special education.
“My vision is to serve as an instructional leader who works with parents, students, teachers and district leadership to foster a professional learning community that empowers students to their fullest potential,” said MacRoberts. “I am excited to join Bastrop ISD, and I look forward to making a positive difference and learning about the wonderful things that make Bluebonnet Elementary a great place to be!”
MacRoberts holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). He is currently pursuing doctoral work at Texas State University.
“We are pleased to bring in an experienced, award-winning administrator to lead the staff at Bluebonnet Elementary,” said Superintendent Barry Edwards. “His expertise in promoting a rigorous academic environment that is inclusive and respectful of diversity will be a tremendous asset to the campus. We are eager to welcome him into the Bastrop ISD family!”
Bluebonnet Elementary School will open its doors to approximately 750 students in pre-k through fourth grade for the 2019-2020 school year. Bastrop ISD is located 30 miles southeast of Austin. The district serves 11,350 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Paige and other rural areas of Bastrop County.
