BISD and Sames Auto Group Kick Off Fourth Annual Perfect Attendance Car Giveaway
Bastrop ISD kicked off the fourth year of its Drive Sames for Education perfect attendance partnership with Sames Auto Group and Prosperity Bank, celebrating a program that rewards one dedicated high school student with a brand-new vehicle at the end of the school year.
The kickoff event, held at Bastrop Sames Ford, brought together students, staff, sponsors, and community leaders to unveil this year’s prize — a 2026 Ford Bronco Sport. The initiative encourages students to stay committed to their education by recognizing the importance of showing up every day.
The event featured performances from the Cedar Creek High School Drumline, the Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School Varsity Cheer Squads, and appearances by the high school's three mascots — Talon, Bobby, and Bubo. School Board Trustee Josh Coy, Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristi Lee, and local business partners also took part in the celebration.
Representing Sames Auto Group, Steven David, General Manager of Sames Bastrop Ford and Sames Bastrop CDJR, reflected on the impact of the program, which began 12 years ago in Laredo, Texas.
“This program is about more than cars — it’s about commitment, perseverance, and the power of showing up,” David said. “It takes real effort to wake up early, push through tough days, and stay focused. That dedication deserves to be celebrated.”
Prosperity Bank provides the financial assistance for tax, title, and license, making the vehicle totally free for the winning student.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Sames family and Prosperity Bank for their continued partnership and investment in our students’ success,” said Kasie Stagman, Principal of Cedar Creek High School.
