Ted Coleman has been promoted to the position of Director of Safety & Security for Bastrop ISD. Coleman has served as the district’s Safety and Security Coordinator since 2023.
“I am thrilled to lead the Safety and Security Department for Bastrop ISD, as we continue to enhance our processes and procedures every day,” said Coleman. “The safety and security of our students, staff, faculty, and visitors remains our number one priority. I am excited to partner with our families and our community as we work together to safeguard everyone within the district.”
Coleman brings over 20 years of diverse experience spanning the military, education, and private sectors. Most recently, he served as the Safety & Security Coordinator for Bastrop ISD. Before that, he was a Teacher and Campus Safety Lead at Cedar Creek Intermediate School. He also ran his own service-based business and worked as a Senior Safety Manager and Regional Advisor for Tyson-Noresco International. Coleman's background includes more than 11 years of military service as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
"Ted has been an incredible asset to the safety and security department for the last couple of years. He sets the standard at the highest level for the protection of our students and staff and holds us all accountable to that standard," said Scot Bunch, Bastrop ISD Chief of Police.
Coleman attended Upper Iowa University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and is currently pursuing his Master of Public Administration from the American Military University.
In his free time, Coleman enjoys being with his family, cheering on his kids at their Bastrop ISD sporting events, and staying active in the community.
