Fehlker Promoted to Principal of Red Rock Elementary
Bastrop ISD has selected Katie Fehlker to be the principal of Red Rock Elementary (RRE). Fehlker has most recently served as an assistant principal at RRE and will assume the lead role immediately.
“I am honored to be chosen as the principal of Red Rock Elementary and humbled with the opportunity to be a part of our students' education and lives,” said Fehlker. “I look forward to continuing to work with Road Runner students, staff and families!”
Fehlker began her career in education in 2007 as a fifth-grade math, science and social studies teacher at Alief ISD. She then spent time as a first-grade self-contained teacher, fifth-grade math, science and writing teacher and seventh-grade math teacher. She started working at Bastrop ISD as a math and science instructional coach in 2018 and transitioned to the assistant principal role at RRE in 2020. She also has experience with Texas Education Agency-Safal Partners as a third through fifth-grade science curriculum reviewer.
“Katie has the experience, skills and passion that is a great fit for Red Rock Elementary,” said Superintendent Barry Edwards. “We are looking forward to watching her leadership take Red Rock Elementary to the next level of academic success and to supporting her as she continues her school leadership journey.”
Fehlker is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Higher Education from Concordia University-Portland. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Concordia University-Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Utah State University. Katie and her husband James have a daughter who attends Red Rock Elementary.
