Bastrop ISD Earns Perfect Score on TEA Financial Integrity Rating

November 19, 2024

Bastrop ISD has received an “A - Superior” rating from the Texas School FIRST (Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas) financial accountability rating system. In addition to receiving the state's highest recognition for fiscal responsibility for the sixth year in a row, the District received a perfect score of 100 points across all areas. This rating demonstrates the quality of Bastrop ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

Official ratings were presented to the BISD School Board at the November 19 meeting, along with a full financial report. Click here to view the official ratings for the District on TEA's website.

School FIRST was developed in 1999 by the Texas Education Agency in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76th Texas Legislature. The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with the Texas school finance system.

The accountability rating system assigns one of four financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts, with the highest being “Superior Achievement,” followed by “Above-Standard Achievement,” “Standard Achievement” and “Substandard Achievement.”
