At the November 19 meeting, Bastrop ISD School Board members unanimously approved the names of three campuses. These include the district’s ninth elementary school, as well as two middle schools.

The District’s ninth and newest elementary school will be named Adelton Elementary School. It’s located in the Adelton subdivision off of FM 20 near Highway 71 in Bastrop. The campus is currently under construction as part of the 2023 Bond Program. Once it opens in the Fall of 2025, it will welcome students in prekindergarten through fifth grade.

In addition, Bastrop ISD’s two intermediate campuses need new names as they begin their transition into middle schools. Beginning at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, the new name of Bastrop Intermediate School will be Riverside Middle School and the new name of Cedar Creek Intermediate School will be Creekside Middle School. 

The names for these schools were selected following a community nomination process held earlier this year. A board appointed committee, along with district representatives, carefully reviewed more than 200 nominations before presenting their recommendations to the Board of Trustees on November 19.
