School Board Approves Pay Raises for Teachers and Staff

At the June board meeting, the Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees approved salary increases for the 2025–2026 school year.


The new compensation plan fulfills the requirements outlined in HB 2, which provides salary increases for classroom teachers with 3 or more years of experience. In addition, the Board made it a priority to extend raises at all teaching levels and to all employee groups as a reflection of our continued commitment to investing in the incredible people who serve our students and families every day.


The 2025–2026 Bastrop ISD compensation highlights include:


Teacher Salary Increases

  • Starting Teacher Salary: + $1,750 to $57,750

  • Teachers with 1–2 years of experience: + $1,965 (increase of 3.5%)

  • Teachers with 3–4 years of experience: + $2,500 (increase of approximately 4.4%)

  • Teachers with 5+ years of experience: + $5,000 (increase of approximately 7.4%–8.8%)

Salary Increases for Other Employee Categories

  • Support Staff and Paraprofessionals: + 5% pay increase (of midpoint)

  • Professional Staff: + 3% pay increase (of midpoint)

During the same meeting, the Board also unanimously approved a balanced budget for the 2025–2026 school year totaling $146 million. The budget was developed with several key priorities in mind, including safety and security, staff pay increases, added support at elementary campuses, the opening of a new elementary school, and the conversion of two intermediate campuses into full middle schools.
