Bastrop ISD Selects Dina Edgar as Chief Financial Officer
Dina Edgar has been named Bastrop ISD’s Chief Financial Officer replacing Sandra Callahan, who is retiring after 35 years of service. Edgar is scheduled to begin her new role June 1.
Edgar has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for Galena Park ISD since 2018. In that role, she directly oversees budget development and management, payroll, purchasing, debt services, accounts payable, and federal grants.
“Replacing Sandra Callahan was a tremendous feat, but I believe we’ve found the perfect fit, and we are excited to have Dina join the Bastrop ISD family,” said Superintendent Barry Edwards. “Her wealth of experience makes her the ideal person to join our team and lead the business department with the same level of excellence we’ve been accustomed to. I want to thank Sandra for her 35 years of leadership and service to our students, staff and this community. She will be truly missed.”
Edgar has 16 years of experience in school financial management. Prior to Galena Park ISD, Edgar served as Executive Director of Business and Finance for Fort Bend ISD from 2014 to 2018 and Chief Financial Officer at Copperas Cove ISD from 2013 to 2014. She also served Leander ISD for four years as the Executive Director of Business Services and Budget, overseeing financial operations and managing bond-related construction. Prior to her career in public education, Edgar spent 14 years in telecommunications sales and management with AT&T and SBC Communications.
“I am very excited to join Bastrop ISD,” said Edgar. “I understand the tremendous responsibility that comes with serving the District and this community with continued superior financial stewardship and transparency. I also am committed to championing the new bond program and ensuring the continued stable financial solvency of Bastrop ISD.”
Edgar is a graduate of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York with a degree in business administration and management. She and her husband Glenn, who will teach math at Cedar Creek High School, will transition to the area in the coming weeks.
