CRCA Scores Another Top Honor
Colorado River Collegiate Academy (CRCA) took home a national award again this school year earning the 2020 U.S. News Best High School. This is the third year that CRCA has earned this honor, having also made the list in 2017 and 2018.
Overall, CRCA is 12th in Central Texas, 127th in Texas and 1,124th nationally.
“Bastrop ISD students have shown they can compete with the very best students of Texas and the United States. I am so proud of our CRCA Owls,” said CRCA Principal, Martin Conrardy.
The rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in all fifty states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance and state assessments and how well they prepare students for college, according to the U.S. News website.
According to the U.S. News Best High Schools methodology, schools were rated on the following six measures, and the weights used for each indicator are in parentheses:
-
College readiness (30% of the ranking)
-
College curriculum breadth (10% of the ranking)
-
Reading and math proficiency (20% of the ranking)
-
Reading and math performance (20% of the ranking)
-
Underserved student performance (10% of the ranking)
-
Graduation rate (10% of the ranking)
CRCA is an early college high school that allows students to earn both a high school diploma and an Associate's degree from Austin Community College. College tuition, fees, books and transportation are provided at no cost to students who qualify. A new cohort of freshmen is accepted each year by application. To apply for the fall 2021 school year, students or parents should contact school counselor Rick Longoria at 512-772-7247 or rlongoria@bisdtx.org.
“Our recruiting season for the CRCA Class of 2025 is just beginning. We would love to have you join our student body,” added Conrardy. Currently, 233 students attend CRCA.
