I am from Lago Vista, northwest of Austin, and went to college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. While there, I double majored in Social Work and Sociology, receiving my Bachelor's in Social Work. I studied abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico the summer after graduating and then volunteered for AmeriCorps the following year where I worked on projects such as Habitat for Humanity.
After 10 years in the social work field, I returned to SFA to obtain my teaching certification because I want to support students in their education. I started working at Cedar Creek Intermediate School in 2014 and have taught 5th/6th grade ELAR, 6th grade social studies, and 5th/6th grade learning strategies.
