  • Four BISD Schools Recognized by Baylor University's Texas Hunger Initiative

    Superintendent Barry Edwards welcomed representatives from Baylor University's Texas Hunger Initiative to Bastrop ISD in celebration of National School Breakfast Week. They visited four campuses to recognize them for their outstanding success increasing the number of children participating in school breakfast.

  • BISD Students Selected to Accompany Hannibal Lokumbe to Philadelphia

    Gwendolyn Ibarra and Haley Stembridge have been selected to accompany composer and master trumpeter Hannibal Lokumbe to Philadelphia to witness the debut of his year-long musical project, The Healing Tones. BHS band director Kenneth Gilbreath will join the group as well.

  • BISD Communications Department Earns Numerous Awards

    The Bastrop ISD Communications Department was recognized by the Texas School Public Relations Association during its annual conference February 18-21. BISD earned five Gold awards, two Silver awards, and one bronze award for its efforts in advertising, planning, feature writing, and video production. The department also earned two Best of Category medals.

  • Invitation to Review Textbooks

    Parents are invited to review the textbooks and related resources that are being considered for district-wide adoption by BISD for K-8 English Language Arts and Reading. The textbooks and related resources are available to examine at the BISD Service Center at 906 Farm Street on February 19 from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm and on February 20-22 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

    A regular meeting of the Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees is scheduled for February 19, 2019, at 5:30 pm in the BISD Service Center.

  • In February 2019, the Student Councils from Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School were invited to present at the Texas Association of School Boards Winter Governance Seminar in Galveston. Watch the video to see their presentation, which focused on how student councils help individual students, schools, school districts, and communities with leadership, inclusion, school & community pride/partnership.
