Hello Explorers!
I am honored to be your principal. Education is a calling and I’ve been blessed to be an educator for 27 years. For the last 15 years, I have served as a principal and assistant principal of Humble Elementary, a dual-language school of 600 students and 75 staff members in Humble ISD. I've also spent 12 years as a special education interventionist, elementary teacher, and instructional coach in both Humble and Alief schools. While working as an instructional coach, I recognized how important coaching and motivating is to staff and students. Athletes receive quality coaching for their skill sets and talents. I believe that applies to the classroom as well. All children are able to be successful when we invest, motivate and support them.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in 1991 in elementary education from Stephen F. Austin State University as well as a master’s degree in educational administration, also from Stephen F. Austin State University.
I am married to Mike, who will be teaching 8th-grade science at Bastrop Middle School. We have been married for 28 years and have three children...Channing, Bree, and Austin. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling and doing DIY projects. I am proud to be Nana to Beckett (15 months old).
My family and I are looking forward to this new chapter in Bastrop ISD, working alongside educators who are passionate about student success.
We're going to have a terrific school year!
