Welcome!
Hi there! My name is Ms. McGee and I am so excited to be starting my sixth year here at Bastrop High School.
About Me
I was born and raised in Katy, TX. When it was time to head off to college, my heart knew exactly where it wanted to be. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos where I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration. When I first started at Texas State, all I knew was how much I enjoyed math and helping people with it so I thought, "Why not major in something I actually like?". While at Texas State I was involved in many different organizations, but these are a few that I hold near and dear to me: SI (Supplemental Instructor) in the SLAC Department (Student Learning Assistance Center) for 3 years, member of Cat Camp Staff for two years, and a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity not just all four years, but for life!
I would be lying if I said I was not completely lost when I graduated college. My Dad always said, "If you enjoy what you do, you never go to work a day in your life.". While I discovered my love for teaching and helping others with math at Texas State, it was not until I came to BHS that I realized where I belong.
I also have the craziest but coolest cat in the world named Winston! He's either the reason you think cats are funny, or the reason you think they are secretly taking over the world.
I had the honor of being named Teacher of the Year for Bastrop High School AND Secondary Teacher of the Year for Bastrop ISD for the 2021 - 2022 school year. I could not have achieved this accomplishment without the help of my amazing colleagues, and bright students who always keep me going! I've also been the Assistant Tennis Coach for the past three years, and Middle School Tennis Coach for the past two years. I am very excited to now be serving as the Head Tennis Coach for the second year. I will also be teaching a new course this year, On-Ramps College Algebra (ORCA). While these awards and promotion(s) mean the world to me, I am still looking forward to another year of sharpening my skills as an educator to be the best for my students and athletes here at Bastrop High School.
