Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2 or TSI)

  • The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2 or TSI) is a college placement test for students enrolling in public universities or colleges in the State of Texas. All students must take the TSI to be able to register for classes at any public university or college. Students interested in Dual Credit must be college ready to be eligible to take any college courses. Students interested in Dual Credit at BHS need to reach out to our College Access Specialist, Sophia Taylor-Burton (staylorburton@bisdtx.org) to get more information.

At Bastrop High School, students can take the TSI starting freshmen year. We test students annually on pre-scheduled testing days. However, students have the ability to take the TSI test through our after school program, Beyond the Bell (BTB), anytime throughout the year. BTB is Free! Once they are enrolled in BTB, they will need to schedule a date to take the TSI.

Before a student can take the TSI, they must first complete the Pre-Assessment Activity. The Pre-Assessment Activity allows a student to become familiar with the test and allows the students to have practice questions. Once a student has completed the Pre-Assessment Activity they will receive a Certificate of Completion. BHS students must either print the Certificate of Completion and bring it to the College & Career Center or email the Certificate of Completion to Tammy Johnson (tjohnson@bisdtx.org) or Nathan Mouser (nmouser@bisdtx.org).

Below are the TSIA2 College Ready Scores (Students must be TSI College Ready in both ELAR and Writing to be able to take most Dual Credit Classes.)

    • ELAR: score of 945+ or <945 and 5 (Diagnostic)
    • Essay: score of 5
