Jerry Gee Cordova named Director of Fine Arts
(BASTROP, TX) - Jerry Gee Cordova has been named Director of Fine Arts for Bastrop ISD. This role oversees the District’s fine arts programs, and the operations of the District’s performing arts center, Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts. His new role starts immediately.
“I am thrilled to join the district and eager to collaborate with the incredibly talented students and staff in the Bastrop community. Having worked with various arts organizations and school districts, I pride myself in building relationships and truly believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire and empower young minds. I have a passion for fostering creativity and artistic growth and am dedicated to enriching the fine arts programs at BISD,” said Gee Cordova.
With over 17 years of experience in fine arts, Gee Cordova prides himself on communication and collaboration. He began his career as an Administrator and Teacher Artist for the Los Angeles Opera. His experience also includes serving as the Head Choir Director for both North East ISD and Hopewell Middle School in Round Rock ISD. While at RRISD, Gee Cordova was named the District’s 2020 Secondary Teacher of the Year. Most recently, he served as Coordinator of Fine Arts for Manor ISD.
“Jerry brings with him an enthusiasm and passion for students and the arts,” said Dr. Matt Warford, Associate Superintendent of Leading and Learning. “We look forward to working alongside him as we enhance the fine arts department at all levels.”
Gee Cordova attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Master in Education in Leadership and Policy, and the University of Southern California where he earned a Master of Music in Education. He obtained his Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
