Raina Ellis named Director of College, Career and Military Readiness
(BASTROP, TX) - Raina Ellis has been named Director of College, Career and Military Readiness for Bastrop ISD. This role oversees the District’s Counseling, Career & Technical Education, P-TECH, and Work Based Learning programs.
“I am deeply honored and excited to lead the college, career, and military readiness efforts for our district. My goal is to empower our students with the tools, opportunities, and guidance they need to confidently pursue their dreams and create a successful future. I look forward to building on the strong foundation this team has already established,” said Ellis.
With over 22 years of experience in education, Ellis prides herself in coordinating district-wide initiatives and fostering student success through innovative strategies and leadership. She began her career in 2002 as a teacher with Bastrop ISD, later teaching at Akins High School before returning to BISD. In 2011, she joined the counseling team as a Professional School Counselor at Cedar Creek High School. Ellis also served as a Professional School Counselor at Jack C. Hays High School, and in 2016, she was appointed Lead Counselor at Cedar Creek High School. In her most recent role, Ellis was promoted to Counseling Coordinator for Bastrop ISD.

Ellis attended Lamar University where she earned a Master of Education in Professional School Counseling and Texas State University where she obtained a Master of Education in Secondary Education, and where she also completed a Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University.
Ellis, a Bastrop High School graduate, resides in Bastrop with her husband, David, and their son, Clay who attends Mina Elementary. In her free time, Raina enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
