About Me

  • Hi, my name is Jackie Heger, and I'm very excited to teach 4th Grade ELA, Reading and Social Studies at Cedar Creek Elementary. I have a Bachelor's degree in University Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and became a certified EC-6 teacher through the iTeach Texas Alternative Certification Program. This is my second year of teaching and I am happy to be part of an incredible school community, where we are all proud to be EAGLES! I am originally from Columbus, a small town about 45 minutes East of Bastrop, where my parents and siblings live. When I am not in a classroom, embracing the minds of students, I am in my kitchen baking up a storm. I also love spending time with my family and friends, crafting and traveling.

This year we will be learning and digging deeper into strategies that will guide your child to success. Learning comprehension strategies are key to understanding what your child is reading. These strategies will also help them when testing. How a character changes, cause & effect, synonyms & antonyms, author's purpose, using context clues, summary, main idea and side writing are just a few areas we will learn along with many others. In 4th grade, we also concentrate on Writing. Going through the writing process of prepping, planning, drafting, editing & revision, and a published piece will be our main focus of writing this year.

The best way to reach me is by contacting the school, my email or through the Remind app.

If you have a concern about your child's progress, please be in touch. I am excited to teach your child this year and look forward to getting to know your family.
