“We are grateful to have the trust of our community, and we appreciate their investment in the future of our district,” said Bastrop ISD Superintendent Barry Edwards. “As the Central Texas area faces fast paced growth, we must continue to meet the demand of students and families in our District.”

The bond proposal was crafted by a group of community members that comprised BISD’s Citizens Advisory Task Force (CATF). It will provide new district facilities and renovations at existing campuses to address anticipated growth including:

  • Two elementary schools (#9 and #10)

  • A multipurpose facility to house the BISD Police Department, plus the maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping departments

  • A two-story academic wing at both Bastrop and Cedar Creek high schools

  • Additional classrooms at Colorado River Collegiate Academy and Genesis High School

  • Reconfiguration of intermediate schools into comprehensive middle schools

  • Demolition of older buildings at Mina Elementary and construction of a two-story building all located on the east side of Hill Street

  • Safety and security upgrades throughout the district to include additional cameras and security devices at all schools.

  • New playground equipment and furniture upgrades for elementary campuses

“On behalf of the school board, I want to thank the members of the task force who put together a comprehensive bond proposal, as well as the district staff who worked to educate our community on what this proposal would accomplish,” said BISD Board President Billy Moore. “I see great things in store for the future of Bastrop ISD.”
