The Bastrop Independent School District is the public school system of choice in the Bastrop area, serving more than 13,000 students in Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne and Paige. Nestled along the beautiful Colorado River in the picturesque Lost Pines, we are conveniently situated 30 miles southeast of Austin, 100 miles northeast of San Antonio, and 130 miles west of Houston. Bastrop ISD is one of the largest districts geographically in the State of Texas, at 433 square miles.
We have four high schools--two comprehensive high schools, a nationally-ranked and award-winning early college high school, and an alternative high school. We also have two middle schools (7-8), two 6th-grade centers, and eight elementary schools (grades pre-K through 5). Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, we will have four middle schools serving grades 6-8 and two additional elementary schools, thanks to the 2023 Bond Program. In addition, Bastrop ISD operates three state-licensed, four-star-rated Child Development Centers for children aged 6 weeks to 4 years old.
Bastrop ISD maintains high expectations and a complete commitment to investing time, energy, talents, and expertise towards each student. In Bastrop ISD, "Their future is our focus!" We offer numerous postsecondary pathways including a P-TECH Academy in Advanced Manufacturing, a P-TECH Academy in Health Science Technology, and an Early College High School Program in Education & Training. Students can also explore culinary arts, visual arts, automotive technology, construction science, Project Lead the Way engineering, and many other pathways to help them craft their futures.
