    Hi!  I am the Director of Special Programs and Services for BISD. I have been in school administration for over a decade and could not imagine doing anything else. In my educational career, I have served as a Behavior Paraprofessional, Vocational Adjustment Coordinator, Resource Teacher, Business Education Teacher, Assistant Principal, Associate Principal, Special Education Coordinator of Inclusion, Associate Director of Special Programs and Services and now Director of Special Programs and Services. As the Director, I supervise Instructional Programs and Behavior Programs. I also collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction Department in the development of systems to support ALL students. Concurrent to these roles, I support campuses and families in Independent Education Program development in regard to all aspects of Special Education policy and procedure. 
     
    Dana Teague

    Dana is the Secondary Coordinator of Special Programs and Services. She graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO with a BS in Special Education.  Dana received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia.  Her Post-Master’s certificate for Administration and Leadership was received from The George Washington University where she is a doctoral candidate working on her dissertation in Administration and Policy Studies.

    Dana has been a Special Education Teacher in both Missouri and Virginia.  She has served as a central office administrator for both Curriculum and Instruction and Special Services. Currently, Dana supervises programs at the Intermediate, Middle and High School levels.  She is the administrator for Bastrop Works and supervises the ARD Facilitators.

    Shelly Pietsch

    Shelly Pietsch has served in Bastrop ISD as the Elementary Special Education Coordinator since 2006.  She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Teaching and received her Masters’ degrees in Educational Administration and Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University.   

    She has twelve years of teaching experience which were served in Magnolia ISD, Weimar ISD, and La Grange ISD.  She served as an Educational Diagnostician for Bastrop, La Grange, and Smithville ISD for four years before becoming coordinator in 2006.  She currently supervises Special Education Programs at the elementary level. Other responsibilities include supervision of the speech therapists, speech therapist assistants, occupational therapists, certified occupational therapists, and physical therapists.  In addition, she oversees the Child Find program for the district.

    Debora Ribble

    Hello, I’m Debora Ribble and I am the 504/Dyslexia Coordinator for BISD.  I’ve been an educator for 20+ years.  I’ve had the pleasure of teaching high school English, being a high school Dyslexia/504 specialist, district level English Language Arts/Social Studies Curriculum/Dyslexia/504 Coordinator (Grades PK-12), Elementary Instructional Reading Coach and Elementary Asst. Principal and Principal, and finally an ARD Facilitator for 2 years before this assignment.  I’m looking forward to getting back to my roots in Dyslexia and coordinating with campus Dyslexia Teachers, Counselors and Administrators to help provide exemplary services for students.

    Deidra Stephens

    Hi!  My name is Deidra Stephens and I am the Low Incidence Disability Specialist for Bastrop ISD.   I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education from Baylor University in 1988.   I hold a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Lamar University and recently completed the principal certification program from Lamar University.  Throughout my career,  I have taught students with a variety of special needs and have enjoyed watching the students overcome the challenges they face.  I spent 24 years teaching before joining the Bastrop Department of Special Education Services in August of 2012.   Please contact me at dstephens@bisdtx.org or 512-772-7850.  I look forward to serving the students of Bastrop ISD!
