The Bastrop Independent School District is a proud public school system in the picturesque Lost Pines of Central Texas. With the beautiful Colorado River running through our city, we are conveniently situated just 30 miles southeast of Austin, 100 miles northeast of San Antonio, and 130 miles west of Houston.
Bastrop ISD serves over 12,400 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Paige, Red Rock, Rockne, and vast rural areas of Bastrop County. We have two comprehensive high schools, an early college high school, and a nontraditional online high school. We also have two middle schools (grades 6, 7 and 8), and eight elementary schools (grades pre-K through 5). To provide care for the babies and children of our staff and student parents in our district, we also operate three licensed childcare facilities at Bluebonnet Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary and Emile Elementary.
One of the largest districts geographically in the state of Texas, Bastrop ISD covers nearly 450 square miles. We are also the largest employer in the area with approximately 1,300 employees, which includes our outsourced partners for transportation and child nutrition. Classroom teachers make up the bulk of our employees.
