Bastrop ISD will operate the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2021-22 school year, thanks in part to waivers put in place by TDA due to the pandemic. The Seamless Summer Option provides meals at no cost to children and teens 18 years old and younger in low-income areas. Participating families do not have to apply to register or provide identification. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funds the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the Summer Meals Program in Texas.

The district will continue its policy to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2021-22 school year. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals. All our elementary and intermediate schools participate in this program.
