James Allen, Trustee
"My service on the school board is one of the most important things I do as a volunteer. Our community depends on me as a BISD board member to govern our district and make decisions that are best for all students."
James Allen joined the BISD Board of Trustees in 2006 after having served as a trustee in the Barbers Hill school district. He vacated his seat there in 2002 and relocated with his family to Bastrop.
Mr. Allen also volunteers in other ways in our community, including with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce (for whom he was named "Citizen of the Year" in 2008), the Bastrop Sportsmen's group, and the Bastrop Education Foundation. He is a founding member of Cedar Creek Rotary. For the past several years, James has raised money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by logging more than 2,000 cycling miles for that cause.
Mr. Allen has been a business owner/agent for State Farm in Bastrop since 2002. Prior to that, he was the Sales Force Productivity Manager for Stewart & Stevenson in Houston. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University and has Executive Management Certifications from Rice University. James and his wife Pat, an attorney, are the parents of three children, Logan, Lannie, and Payne.
