• The Bastrop Independent School District is a proud public school system in the picturesque Lost Pines of Central Texas. With the beautiful Colorado River running through our city, we are conveniently situated just 30 miles southeast of Austin, 100 miles northeast of San Antonio, and 130 miles west of Houston.

The Bastrop ISD Police Department's jurisdiction is approximately 450 square miles which includes all the geographical territory within the boundaries of the District, as well as, any property outside the District that is owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the District.
BISD Police Officers serve the approximately 12,000 students and 1,700 employees protecting life and property on all Bastrop ISD campuses and facilities. The over 1,700,000 square feet of District facilities are checked on a 24-hour basis. Officers also conduct criminal investigations and investigate traffic accidents that occur on District property and assist other law enforcement agencies as needed.

Bastrop ISD Police officers have the same authority, powers, privileges and immunities bestowed on all Texas peace officers while on or off duty.
